Just wondering about that Jimmy Buffet country beach sound. Do you reckon they use a marimba or a xylophone or what might be that sound i'm hearing ?

I've never heard it referred to as "the country beach sound," but I think I get what you're saying.

Do you have a song in mind?

In thinking for example of Margaritaville, there is a combination which includes marimba and steel drums.

I wasn't too sure how to describe it , sort of tropical country or something along that . But yeah margaritaville , no shoes no shirts no problems , it's five o clock somewhere . That sort of sound I hear some sort of percussion in there and it definitely adds to the carribeaniscity lol

Probably talking about the steel drums. Was looking forward to playing with Robert Greenidge, Jimmy's long time steel drum player July 3. That's probably not going to happen now. I've played numerous gigs with him before. Sublime player, super nice guy.

That's pretty cool Chuck. You run with some of the big dogs!

There was definitely marimba along with  steel drums on Margaritaville. I read a magazine article on Buffett awhile back and this very thing came up since it's his signature song along with Come Monday. I guess I remembered it because I knew a guy here locally some years back who plays marimba. They seem like a bigger pain in the butt to set up for a gig than pedal steel.

But in Jimmy's touring band if he wants to get the marimba sound, no doubt his keyboard player can pull it up.
