As a resonator newbie, I stumbled across The Modern Music Masters Jerry Douglas Resophonic Guitar course. The video overview looks very interesting and am thinking of going for it. Any thoughts on the material and presentation by those who've tried the course? I've been playing conventional electric/acoustic guitar for awhile already.

I've been playing for a long time so I never bought this course, but I do have Jerry's more advanced second shorter course, "My Early Influences" which I have been enjoying over tha past year or so. I'm sure I could pick up plenty of beneficial ideas from the beginning course anyway, but there's only so many hours in a day.
I went back to the site and checked out the teaser videos for the first course and there's some great stuff there - I like how he demonstrates the difference between "The Knoxville Girl," first played in a major key then he does a second version in a minor key - pretty cool.
I assume the tablature in the beginning course is done by the same people as the advanced course - Mike Witcher and Abbie Gardner - it's very well done.
I think I read the beginner's course is 5.5 hours - that'll keep you busy for awhile. If I were starting out I'd go for it.

I play round neck, but the information should still be applicable?

Sorry, I went back and reread your earlier thread when you joined up here and I missed the reply that your Hound Dog is in fact a roundneck.
That being the case, I would not recommend you buy Jerry's course. Though he might have a few segments where he teaches some Open D which is tuned the same on roundneck or squareneck, low to high DADF#AD and you might get something out of it, the vast majority of the segments will be in hgh bass Open G (GBDGBD) which is sort of the equivalent for lap style dobro that standard tuning is on "regular" guitar. And playing a guitar with a steel bar lap style that's essentially like a single steel finger is vastly different than bottleneck slide.
You need a course for bottleneck where you utilize the slide in conjunction with fretting sometimes in open tunings.
I have purchased many learning videos from Homespun over the years and there is a lot of material available along with what you can pick up on YouTube.
Mike Dowling is a great slide player and a really good teacher as well, he has played live in my area a number of times. Roy Rogers as well - he's a NorCal local. Check out the choices in the link below. And sign up for their email list. You'll receive offers a couple times a week for videos selling at 30%-50% off regular price. I've bought way too many over the years for the discounted price, some where I've barely scratched the surface. It's all downloads now, they no longer do physical DVDs, for those you have to track them down on Amazon or eBay.

Gracias, Mark! Will definitely check them out. Have been following Dylan Adams on YouTube, a huge Duane Allman fan. Dylan has a course as well.

I bought the course about 2 years ago and have to say I was disappointed. Its not that the material isn't useful, but it was too basic for me. Mind you, learning good technique when you are starting out is very important (learn good habits, not bad ones). And you can't please all skill levels with one video. But I felt it was too expensive for such basic material. I don't begrudge Jerry a teaching fee, but I won't be buying more material from that vendor. YMMV.
