Well I have been very busy fixing up a smashed Reso that Tom was making for me. Some might remember that I was trying to sell it, but didn’t have much luck. I’m kind of glad now it didn’t sell, as theres going to be another Appy in this world. It was a lot of work but it’s going to be worth it.
I had to put a new top on it, new cone support and post, completely rebuild and fix the sides, and make a neck and fret board, as he never got that far. I’m pretty proud of my work, and I’m sure Tom would be too. Now I just have to wait for the warmer weather to spray the lacquer and put the parts on it. Just thought I’d share some photos of it so far.
ThanksMark, this is all I could find, guess I should have took a few more before I started for comparison. I originally had it fixed with the spruce top that was on it. But it kept splitting, so I basically started over and put a new maple top and new cone support and post. The other cone support I did have fixed, as it was snapped in two places. I figured while the top is off I might just as well make it new as I don’t know if the other support would ever really be level. The bass side was split from the waist all the way to the tail block. The kerfing was sticking out the side at the top as you can see in the photo. But it’s done now and I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out.
