Can someone verify which tuning machine is correct for the Hipshot Doubleshot unit for reso?
Are these only available with the Doubleshot Kit?

The ones I have are just barely long enough to reach through the headstock and don't leave much room for winding. However, I guess that makes for good downforce at the nut.

Looking at the Hipshot site doesn't really show any info for them. These are the regular open gear tuners and not the locking type, but I suppose the post length would be the same?
Thanks.

BTW, the headstock thickness is about 18 mm. Just between 11/16 and 3/4 in.

Wow that seems like a thick headstock.  Mine are in the 9/16" to 5/8" range.

I do see dimensions on Hipshot's site.  Here's an example of a drawing (may or may not be the exact tuners you're looking for...)

https://docs.hipshotproducts.com/6GN0_CLASSIC_OPEN_DIMENSIONS.pdf?_gl=1*13jhpe8*_gcl_au*MjEzNjgyNjU4OC4xNzcxMDMxODg0LjEyMTA1OTU3LjE3NzEwMzE5NTguMTc3MTAzMjI3OQ..*_ga*NTk3NjE5NjEuMTc3MTAzMTg4NA..*_ga_EVJ0ZTC1DT*czE3NzE3ODI3MTIkbzMkZzEkdDE3NzE3ODI4ODEkajU5JGwwJGgw

Here's one of my resonators with the .827" / 21mm post (photo)- these are the locking style.  This headstock is about 5/8" thick.  (It's black on top so may be tough to see).

It says on their drawing the max headstock thickness that can be accommodated in the regular tuners is a .655" / 16.6mm headstock.  If that's the case, your headstock appears to be too thick for these particular tuning machines.

You may want to check the drawings on their site and perhaps call or email them.  In my experience, a phone call can get you a faster answer.  And yes, they offer these on their web site as stand-alone (not required to order entire Hipshot DoubleShot kit...)

Thanks Jamie. Yeah, I found the charts but I couldn't figure out the dims. According to my caliper measurements, if I measured right, mine are not 21mm, so I guess my option is to order the longest post available if I decide to replace these with the lockers. Thanks again for your help. This tells me what I need to know that the 6GNOs is the correct model.

Also they do offer a 23mm post length option in the locking tuner version, but for some reason maintain that it’s for max .630” headstocks. That could be an error in their drawing…it wouldn’t be the first time.

Obviously with a locking tuners, you wouldn’t have to deal with the added string winding, so you could operate with tighter clearance.

OK, I re-measured mine and they are 21mm. I misread the chart dims earlier...poor eyesight, I guess. So I know what I need to do now. Thanks again.
