Whats the best way to let people know that I play a resonator? I play bottleneck slide on a round neck.

To my understanding, "dobro" more refers to lap styled square necks? How would most people refer to round neck slide then? "Resonator guitar" feels like a mouthful...

Yeah "dobro" implies square neck to most folks. Not to mention the whole branding rat hole...

IMHO "resonator guitar" is your best option.

Or, if in casual conversation, "I play bottleneck slide on a resonator" is a mouthful, but leaves little doubt.

….or you can just say “I play slide guitar”.

I can't think of a great slide player that ever tied themselves to a specific instrument when labeling themselves.

I'm with Brooks on this one. The sliding part to me is more important than the design and construction of the guitar. For example, I'm a huge Ry Cooder fan, and though he is a master of slide guitar, when playing acoustic, he's never cared for resonators.  I'm an equally huge fan of Mark Knopfler, and though he's known for playing a 1937 National Style "O" on some songs (think "Romeo and Juliet") he usually frets that guitar rarely playing slide on the National.
