Hi Everyone,
I'm still kind of a newbie on here as well as to playing resonator. Slides have been the subjuct of debate in the forums section. I play a model 27 squareneck. I started off using a Nick Manoloff slide that I had been using on my lap steel. But then switched to a brosophonic that I had as a spare. But found niether to be truely comfortable for dobro. One was too light, and the other was too long and heavy. So after some research I went to the Dunlop website and looked up more slides. I decided to try the "Lap Dawg" & the "Long Dawg" tone bars. I own a music store and was able to find little info about them. I'm unsure of the weight of the Long Dawg. Weight is 5.1oz and length is 2.85" for the Lap Dawg. 3 1/8" for the Long Dawg & a little heavier. Those complaining about the length being too short on the Lap Dawg, will possibly like the extra almost 1/4 of an inch in the Long Dawg. I know that it works better for me. Especially for slants. It's easier to slant towards the headstock due to the extra length. The weight seems to be just right as well. For someone with a smaller hand the Lap Dawg may be a better fit and weight. I hope this small bit of info helps.
