I'm an unabashed heartfelt fan of space exploration, of the sort that never got over the common childhood desire to become an astronaut. I wrote the lyrics for this on the day the space shuttle Challenger exploded. I finally recorded it on the last day of the last space shuttle flight, while sitting on the stone wall in front of the Challenger Memorial in Webster, Texas. Although this is the final product of multiple track additions, the original recording was just me singing while playing my Johnson "Hound Dog" and playing my wife's Fender Tele-acoustic. It appears elsewhere, including my first album, under my band name Wheatstone Bridge. The form is solidly in the folk style despite the unusual topic and extensive use of f/x in the production.
